Facilities available in the newborn unit

The Newborn Unit is capable of taking care of all problems of sick newborns from 25 weeks of gestation upwards. The unit is ably supported by several ancillary departments (most of which have faculty members dedicated for Pediatric work) and sister units within Pediatrics:

The Intensive Care areas of the newborn unit are divided into a 16-bedded neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and a 6-bedded ICU attached to the stepdown care area (Nursery-ICU). The resuscitation and stabilisation area is divided into a 4-bedded resuscitation-cum-stabilisation area (called the clean labour room Nursery), another 4-bedded stabilisation area (called the clean labour room nursery extension) and a 2-bedded resuscitation-cum-stabilisation area for infected mothers (called the septic labour room nursery).
